Abs Workouts that will add thickness to your sides.
Weighted side bends will add thickness to your waist. Replace these exercises with your bodyweight.
- Crunches twisting with Elbows to knees.
- Hanging or supported Knee ups with a twist.
- Side crunches
These abs workouts will work your obliques.
Ladies definitely don’t want a bulky thick waist. We want those curves.
Most every time I am at the gym I see people exercising with weighted side bends. I had a personal trainer that gave me those exercises to do. “heavy weights” I might add. Yes I did develop a thick waste. I STOPPED doing those exercises. Most people must think that this burns fat.
Men, if you want to develop that sexy symmetrical V shaped physique you can by creating an illusion. The broad shoulders that taper down to a tiny waste will give you that look.
Focus on building your lats and deltoids, (ladies you too). while shrinking your waist. Weights will grow muscles on your sides; creating thick sides.
This MAY NOT be the case if you are an athlete and need build a strong waist, like a boxer or a mixed martial arts fighter. They have to build strength there. Sports training, bodybuilding or just trying to look good are very different things.
Most of you reading this article are looking to grow muscles or look great with a 6 pack ab and for this reason I recommend not doing any weighted oblique abs workouts.
These 3 exercises will work the higher part of your waist not the lower part of the obliques waist area.
- Opposite Elbow to knee crunches
- Knee ups with a twist
- Side crunches
