Intervals are short, quick bursts of anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute of work, followed by short recovery periods any where for 10 seconds to 1 minute depending on your fitness level.

For example an intermediate fitness level can make a high intensity training workout intense for 40 seconds and then rest for 20 seconds. repeat for 15 to 25 minutes.

Below are many several different high intensity interval training workouts to speed metabolism and burn fat fast in half the time.

1. Sprint Intervals- Sprint 20 yards and then rest for 1 minute, repeat 5 to 8 times depending on your fitness level. This engages all your major muscles in your body and will burn a lot a calories, not just during the exercise but after the workout is over.

2. Jump Rope- Jump rope for 1 to 2 minutes and then rest for 30 seconds to 1 minute. This is great when you are crunched for time. It is a great way to elevate your heart rate and get that metabolism fired up burning calories.

3. Stadium Stair Sprints- This one will kick your butt BUT is so effective. This can be done in 15 to 20 minutes. Go to a high school or college with a large stadium or bleacher area. Run up the stairs and jog back down about 8 to 10 sets. Torch the fat with this exercise. This is one great way to speed metabolism.

4. Kettle Bell Circuits- (one of my favorite workouts) You can use dumbbells as well. Kettle bells are excellent for getting your heart rate up and building lean muscle. Performing circuits of…

High intensity Interval training is a great workout to add to your routines. It’s a great muscle building program that burns fat fast and burns a lot more fat calories then a boring long steady cardio routine.
